18 Apr 2005 MailWash A neat little utility that helps you tidy up email messages that have been forwarded a few times too many. You paste the message in the top window and it cleans it up and displays it in the bottom one for you to copy back out again.
15 Apr 2005 Robot Camel Jockeys Robots are moving into another area. This time it is camel racing. Traditionally the jockeys in camel racing have been children and there has been much concern from human rights groups. Now technology has provided robots to do the job. 14 Apr 2005 Google Sightseeing Now that google maps has satelite photos of most of North America, here is a new blog that finds the scenic spots. I liked this one which lists pictures that have caught planes in flight. Here is another site that highlights interesting locations.

14 Mar 2005 Ten by ten A visual summary of the news. Basically it is a ten by ten matrix of pictures each one of which represents a word from the day's top stories. Hovering over a picture shows you the word that relates to it and clicking on a picture pops up a window with links to the relevent stories. Needs flash.

14 Mar 2004 DARPA Goodies A report on this year's DARPATech conference. All sort of experimental futuristic technology. Amongst other things they mention the exoskeleton linked to below, various robots and a device for chilling your blood to make weight training more effective.
8 Mar 2004 Berkeley Exoskeleton Researchers at UC Berkeley have built a lower body exoskeleton that allows a human to carry heavy loads for long distances without being tired. 12 Nov 2003 Gaiman Matrix Story A very cool, very short story by comic book writer Neil Gaiman set in the universe of The Matrix. There are a bunch of other stories by a number of well known comic artists/writers. Most of the others are comics rather than prose. The main page is a bit hard to find but has links to the other stories. I noticed the other day in the comic shop that the stories are also available as a graphic novel.
11 Nov 2003 Canadian War Diaries The National Archives of Canada are placing scans of war diaries of Canadian First World War units on the web. War diaries are daily records, usually handwritten in or near the trenches, that detail the activities of the unit. If you have a Canadian ancestor who served in the first world war you may be able to find them on the Soldiers of the First World War website.
